Hi, my name is Anne and when I was 7 years old my parents bought me a Pony only to share a few months later they were getting a divorce – that was the first time in my life when my Pony served as emotional support for me.  Fast forward 33 years and my loving husband passed away suddenly leaving me a widow – again my horse “Peaches” served as my safe place to grieve and heal.  It is then I decided I wanted to share my animals with other hurting and healing people.

Have you ever wondered about alternatives to talk psychotherapy?  Do you love animals?  I invite you to learn more about the healing power of horses below.

http://www.eaemdr.com

  • Utilizing the EAGALA Model, we offer 60 or 90 minute sessions for individuals, couples, groups, families paying special attention to those who are in recovery, struggling with PTSD, ADHD, Trauma or who are neurodiverse.
  • Bring your work team for bonding, improved communication and leadership skills workshops.

EAP addresses a plethora of behavioral challenges and mental health disorders including ADHD, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse and anxiety. EAP is also effective in helping heal relationship problems and improving communication.

The focus is not riding or horsemanship.

EAP involves crafting ground-based activities with horses that require individuals or groups to apply certain skills. Participants learn about themselves and others by participating in these activities with the horses, and then process (or discuss) the feelings, behaviors, and patterns that arise.

Acts of Hesed, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP).

Doing Equine therapy has helped me and my sister get along more.  Before going to horse therapy, we never really got along.  It would always be passing each other and always staying in my room. Never seen each other for a whole day, but since I went there we have been seeing each other more and we have been spending more time with each other. We are able to talk things out also. It also has helped me open up with her and not feeling judged.

You have already made such in impact with our group.”

When I first started this program, I was skeptical and apprehensive about it because every person I attempted to sit down and talk about my feelings with failed me in some sort of way whether physically or emotionally and so I walked in with a deceiving mindset and resenting attitude.  But once I met these 2 wonderful ladiesand their beautiful horses my whole outlookon EAGALA therapy changed and I found myself counting down the days until the next Saturday I got to see them and spend time with them.  Sharing my feelings was still hard but they made sure and provided a safe, supportive and loving space and never pressured me to share anything I didn’t want to.  They are truly a blessing sent from God and I cannot wait until the spring to see their beautiful faces again!
